Here’s a few good ideas for when you prepare to cut and engrave.
Masking
- When you’re preparing to engrave, don’t forget that the smoke for the engraving stains the edges of the surface. To avoid this, cover the surface with masking tape. If you feel the masking tape is decreasing the power of the engraving, then increase the power, but usually the rape doesn’t decrease the power by much.
Presets
- Usually lasers have suggested settings for the times you need to engrave or cut different materials, you should also have the ability to save the settings as a preset on your laser and/or computer. Make sure to name the preset something that you understand. An example would be naming a typical cut on plastic, with ‘plastic’ and the length of the cut.
